Library Access

This Library is not open to the general public. Library supports hospital/QH staff, students on placement, and visiting academics. 

Please keep your staff/student ID card on your person, and present it to library or security staff when asked. For your safety this Library is under 24hr video surveillance.

Ordinary library business hours are 9am - 4pm, Mon-Fri (away public holidays), and library space is accessible 24/7 via PAH staff swipe card.

QH Staff from other hospitals, if you need to add swipe-access to your card please enquire with the security office to obtain the correct approvals/forms.

Patients & members of public, your library needs are provided through volunteer services, please enquire further with your ward staff.

Library Rules

 

Noise Restrictions

The library space is for quiet study and work, please talk quietly.

Put your phone on silent or vibrate and take phone calls outside or into group rooms.

Use your headphones with electronic devices, if you don't have headphones some are available from the reception desk.

 

Food and Drink

Food and drink is permitted in the library within reason. e.g Take-away coffee with a secure-lid is permitted.

Food that causes disturbance to other library users is not permitted i.e. Noisy, smelly, or very messy foods. e.g. Super-crunch extra noisy popcorn is not permitted.

Please ensure all rubbish is placed in the bins provided.

 

Children and Minors

Children/staff-relatives must be accompanied and supervised, do not leave unsupervised children in the library.

Library is not open to the general public. The library supports PAH hospital staff, visiting QH staff, students on placement, and visiting academics. You will be asked for your ID card.

 

 

Electric Scooters

If your electric scooter does not fold-up, do not park it in the library.

If your electric scooter folds-up, keep folded and stored under-desk or next to chair, ensuring that it is not a trip hazard.

Please wheel your electric scooter while you are indoors, do not ride electric scooters inside the hospital building.

 

PPE & Hygiene

Please remove any unnecessary PPE before visiting the library space.

Please ensure shoes are worn in the library, as per hospital corporate dress guidelines.

Pandemic Restrictions

COVID Restrictions - Library restrictions are applied in-line with changes in COVID alert traffic light level.

When Level is Green:

  • Perform hand hygiene with sanitiser upon entering
  • Wipe-down PC workstations after use
  • Maintain social distancing of 1.5m
  • Masks to be worn as per hospital advice

When Level is Amber:

  • Perform hand hygiene with sanitiser upon entering
  • Wipe-down PC workstations after use
  • Maintain social distancing of 1.5m
  • A maximum of 30 people in the library PC & study space
  • Maximum of 4 people per library group room
  • A maximum of 10 people in the library break-out space
  • Masks to be worn as per hospital advice

When Level is Red:

  • Amber rules apply
  • Plus additional measures as advised
