Library Rules

 

 

Noise Restrictions

The library space is for quiet study and work.

Please talk quietly.

Take phone calls outside or into group rooms.

Use headphones with electronic devices.

Put your phone on silent or vibrate.

 

 

 

 

Electric Scooters

If your electric scooter does not fold-up, do not park it in the library.

If your electric scooter folds-up, keep folded and stored under-desk or next to chair. 

Please wheel your electric scooter while you are indoors.

Do not ride electric scooters inside the hospital building.

 

 

Food and Drink

Food and drink is permitted in the library within reason.

No food that causes disturbance to other library users.

Noisy, smelly, or very messy foods are not permitted.

Please ensure all rubbish is placed in the bins provided.

e.g Permitted take-away coffee with a secure-lid.

e.g. Not permitted super-crunch extra noisy popcorn.

 

 

 

 

Children and Minors

Children must be accompanied and supervised. 

Do not leave unsupervised children in the library. 

COVID Restrictions - Library restrictions are applied in-line with changes in COVID alert traffic light level.

When Level is Green:

  • Perform hand hygiene with sanitiser upon entering
  • Wipe-down PC workstations after use
  • Maintain social distancing of 1.5m
  • Masks to be worn as per hospital advice

When Level is Amber:

  • Perform hand hygiene with sanitiser upon entering
  • Wipe-down PC workstations after use
  • Maintain social distancing of 1.5m
  • A maximum of 30 people in the library PC & study space
  • Maximum of 4 people per library group room
  • A maximum of 10 people in the library break-out space
  • Masks to be worn as per hospital advice

When Level is Red:

  • Amber rules apply
  • Plus additional measures as advised

 

24/7 PC Lab

PCs are available ONLY for QLD Health staff and medical students.

You will need a Novell Log-in to use the PCs. If you do not have a log-in please speak to your line manager.

Present your QLD Health photo ID or University photo ID at the Library services desk for alternative arrangements.

For swipe card access speak to your line manager or security. Swipe Card access is 24/7 and includes public holidays

WiFi & BYOD

Library WiFi is available ONLY for QLD Health staff and medical students, ask at the service desk for details or consult signage.

QH-Free WiFi  is available within range, but may be quite slow.

Check the WiFi Map for other locations.

Print/Copy/Scan

MFD Print/Copy/Scanner is available ONLY for QLD Health staff and medical students.

When printing more than 50 pages please bring additional paper supply. Please limit color printing to essential use.

If your laptop is not connected to the hospital network, you will need to print from a USB.

Please use the bin with the blue lid, to securely dispose of confidential documents.

Consult signs next to MFD for instructions on printing and scanning.

Group Rooms

May I book a library group room?

You can book library group rooms if you are a library client including; staff and students on placement, visiting medical officers, and visiting academic staff.

       You can book a group room for:

              In-person groups of two or more.

              Online-groups via MS Teams, Zoom, teleconference.

       You cannot book a group room for:

             Individual work

             Social-purposes

             Clinical/office work-space

             Use of large-equipment (e.g. medical simulations equipment)

   Patient or family meetings

How do I book a library group room?

  • Record your booking in the booking-sheet on the group room door. 
  • Include a contact phone number, so we can contact you about changes to your booking.
  • If you are more than 15mins late for your booking, you booking may be reassigned to another library client.

 

How frequently may I book library group rooms?

You can make a total of two group-room bookings per week, under your name.
Bookings may be short-bookings or full-day bookings.
You can make your bookings up to three weeks in advance.

 

What should I do If I want to book rooms for a longer or more frequent period?

If you need to book rooms for longer or more frequently, please contact the library to make arrangements in advance.

 

May I use a library group room between group bookings?

You can use this library group room casually between group bookings, however you may be asked to vacate the room if a group booking is made.

       You can use this group room between bookings for:

              Individual study

             Taking phone calls

             Educational activities

       You can not use this group room between bookings for:

              Social or relaxation purposes

             Clinical/office work-space

Access facilities during business hours. Borrowing restricted to staff based on-site with offices at PAH campus. Research support and document delivery support available for projects that are inclusive of PAH.

Pastoral care please be aware the book collection only has academic medicine, allied health and nursing texts. For theological publications please enquire W.J. Tunley Memorial Library Brisbane School of Theology.

If pastoral care volunteers provide an @health.qld.gov.au or generic PAHpastoral@health.qld.gov.au borrowing is available. Otherwise limited to local collection and no ILLs.

Member of Public

Library not open to public.

Cables and other

A limited number of cables and other items are available from the library reception desk on request:

  • HDMI cables are available to plug laptops into group room screens.
  • Remotes for  group room screens are available. 
  • Phone-charging cable with three-end adaptor that suits most mobile phone types.
  • Headphones are available for quite listening.
